The practical work undertaken is underpinned by theory sessions delivered by specialist engineering lecturers. The units studied include: Electrics and Electronic Principles Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials Principles and Applications of Electronics Devices and Circuits Mathematics for Engineering

Students wishing to do BTEC Level 3 courses, need to have (or expect to achieve) at least four GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above including English (and a satisfactory school reference) in order to be accepted on a BTEC Level 3 Programme. Students should also gain the following GCSE grade: Grade 5 in Science and Grade 5 in Maths

Course Specific Trips & Visits & Experiences The College runs a number of educational experiences each year to enable students to contextualise their learning. These experiences include trips, work experience and presentations by visiting speakers. Students undertaking this course will be expected to complete a work placement within an engineering based company.

The Level 3 Diploma is equivalent to two A Levels and allows progression onto an Engineering related higher education qualification such as Electrical or Materials Engineering or into employment fields such as Research, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Material Development.
